I am a half-Persian, half-Spanish, first-generation woman, raised as a Muslim in the U.S. I create visual art and the body is my medium. My body is a protest, a puzzle, a mirror and a keeper of secrets. I challenge this body and how it lives in the moment. I am committed to movement that listens, studies, excavates, and illuminates our collective humanism. I am a femme multi-hyphenate artist and passionate storyteller who works within magic realism. My creative work pulls from my lineages and integrates the here and now; It is political, it plays with fantasy, and it deals with many themes surrounding the femme experience from a body that has been under surveillance. Improvisation is a part of my daily expansive practice. I sing to reach beyond this moment and I write to make sense of things. I believe in the power of meeting other bodies with tenderness and curiosity. My practice is rigorous and my art-making is mobile but the creating is non-negotiable.
